A wheel-thrown bowl featuring a small turned foot ring. Made from a mix of reclaimed stoneware and clay from my property.
This piece highlights the natural imperfections of locally foraged clay. The firing process draws out the iron spots and tiny natural pebbles which gently break through the surface.
Glazed with a Shino glaze and olive-green ash glaze incorporating hardwood ash from my heater and iron-bearing clay collected from my property. All my glazes are made from scratch. At the bottom inside the bowl, the ash glaze melted into a textured finish with iron and mustard coloured flecking.
Gas-fired to 1260-1300°C for 12 hours in a reduction atmosphere.
